My Approach
I believe that to understand our behaviors and actions in life, we must first learn how to sit with our emotions and observe our thoughts. The relationship between therapist and client is real and dynamic, allowing the therapeutic space and work to be co-created. I seek to offer a warm, nonjudgmental approach to better understand the place my clients are meeting me to support them in determining where they want to go and help them find the resources to do that healthfully.
I am also extensively trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) and intensively trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) through Behavior Tech and have worked closely with persons experiencing high emotional distress. I use an integrative approach that pulls from these, as well as feminist and humanistic theories, to tailor my approach to your needs. I have almost ten years of experience as a therapist and enjoy utilizing a collaborative approach with clients to co-create our therapeutic work.
I enjoy working with people going through life transitions, such as changes in career, family, or divorce, and helping my clients mindfully engage their lives. I am also passionate about harm reduction and client-guided treatment related to substance use.
Licensed in California and North Carolina, I welcome clients of all backgrounds and particularly enjoy working with LGBTQI+ persons. If you have a spiritual or religious practice, I welcome you to bring that into our therapy to help support you in this journey.
